Ramona Quimby

Alameda Children's Musical Theatre will be conducting auditions for "Ramona Quimby", written by Len Jenkin, based on the novels of Beverly Cleary.

Growing up is NOT easy. Ramona's life is a mess! Her older sister Beezus is a royal pain, always trying to run the show. Her teacher hates her, dad looses his job, and it looks like her favorite Aunt Bea could get married and move far away. You'll laugh and cheer at independent and effervescent Ramona, the world's most loveable third-grader. She will capture your heart, along with her family and friends, as they stick together through it all.

Actors' Age Range: Age 7 thru 17 years old

Audition Dates/Times/Location: Monday and Wednesday, Feb. 22nd and 24th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at First Christian Church, 2441 San Jose Avenue, Alameda, CA (we will also hold rehearsals there).

Audition Requirements: Come in comfortable clothing. You can bring a resume and headshot if you have one, but it's not necessary. Come prepared with a calendar or other documents you can use to fill out a conflict schedule. Audition readings will be from the script. Also please bring a one to three minute comic monologue if possible. It does not need to be memorized.

Rehearsal Schedule: Rehearsals will start on Saturday, February 27th at 1:00 p.m. We will rehearse 2 nights a week (Probably Mondays and Thursdays) as well as on Saturday afternoons. Note: Actors do not attend every rehearsal -- dates are determined by the role as well as conflict schedules.

Tuition: Varies from $175/$275/$425 depending on number of hours each actor's family is able to devote to tasks such as costuming/set building/concessions, etc.

Our Director: Our Director: Our Director is Julia Bruce, who has directed several shows for ACMT, including "The Music Man", "Pippi Longstocking", and "Charlotte's Web". Julia has also directed our summer camps and taught many of those classes.
